Book of Remembrance of the Titanic Crew Members from Southampton.
CoSS are currently engaged in a project to prepare a Book of Remembrance listing the crew members from Southampton who perished when the Titanic sank on 15th April 1912.
We engaged in a public subscription to support the erection of the Queen's Peace Fountain and a surplus amount has been gathering interest. Under the guidance of the Charity Commission we are encouraged to spend money on similar charitable projects. The CoSS trustees with the support of the membership propose to use the surplus funds and the first stage was to communicate with each original donor to seek agreement.
With the agreement of SCC, we propose to erect a display case next to the entrance to the mayor's parlour and each day a new page of names will be displayed. This will match the design of a similar case to commemorate those citizens who lost their lives in the bombing of Southampton in WWII.

The display case will match the WWII memorial case
The borough as it was in 1912 increased over the years as districts such as Redbridge merged so we will use the current city boundary as our catchment area.
Talks are ongoing with the Charity Commissioners and the Conservation Officer [we will need listed building consent to allow the alteration].
At a later stage when the proposed Sea City Museum Centre at the former Magistrates' Court is complete, the display case may be re sited to that location.
