Jonas Nichols was a Victorian builder and developer. we remember him for building Nicholstown. To commemorate the 21st birthday of his son, he donated an ornate fountain with a street light to the town. It has been relocated on a few times but is currently located in Jonas Nichols Square off St Mary's Street. The fountain is Grade II listed.

The fountain fell into a poor state of repair and CoSS donated £5000 towards a refurbishment in 2012. Unfortunately the Square is still used as a fly tipping location and CoSS requests the council to clear such rubbish,
